ORIGINS & HISTORY: Established in 1992, Colosseum Athletics began as a cap company by founder and CEO, Stuart Whang. After experiencing rapid growth in the headwear capacity, Whang was able to secure more licensing agreements and Colosseum expanded to manufacturing jerseys, sweatshirts and other collegiate paraphernalia.
EARLY HISTORY: As a former USC student with an entrepreneurial spirit, Stuart Whang assessed market trends and began designing hats to supply the collegiate and NFL product demand. With access to overseas manufacturing through his family’s manufacturing business, the success of his small business boomed through the 1990’s. In the early 2000’s, licensing restrictions began to increase in the collegiate and professional sports markets. Colosseum then went on to produce replica jerseys by again reacting quickly to market trends.
